Salt Lake City to Reno, NV

The road trip from Salt Lake City to Reno NV is beautiful in its own unique way. The Great Salt Lake Desert was a beautiful site to take in!

The great Salt Lake Desert provided beautiful white “sand” desert views for miles! What appears to be white sand is actually thick white clay. Although tempting to turn the wheel of our 23ft RV, this off road temptation is best done with 4 wheel drive. We passed many spots with tire tracks and a sedan stuck in the white clay.

We also passed several places in the desert where people created messages of love, memorial, and hope in the white clay using dark rocks. It was exciting to see all of the hundreds of messages left behind by previous wanderers passing through.

Driving through Nevada we were getting tossed around the road in our 23ft RV due to heavy heavy winds in the wide open desert. I was so excited to see a large dust storm created and was able to get a great shot!

We passed a penitentiary as we were driving in the middle of no where Utah/Nevada. To our surprise we saw a sign that said “prison area: hitchhiking is prohibited”. Something so obvious yet humors when there is nothing else for miles around. This Carolina girl had never seen a sign like this before.

Accommodations

We stayed one night at Sparks Marina RV Park. This campground was clean and quiet with a large amount of amenities available. They took precaution to COVID-19 safety regulations for residents.

We stayed at site #210, a level pull through site with full hookup cost $61/night with tax. This site was midway down a row of 25, and was close by to the pet run, showers/restrooms, propane, and trash.

Arrival time is 1pm and checkout is 11am.
